An exciting new performance series, “Be Exposed!“, is launching in Kenosha on Friday, Feb. 19th. The event will feature poets, musicians, visual artists, and other creative people.

“Be Exposed!” began with a group of friends from different artistic backgrounds: visual artists Catherine Patin and Francisco Loyola, writers Lisa Adamowicz Kless and Jen Sepanski and actor Brent Allen Caputo. They wanted to combine elements from art shows, concerts and poetry readings into one event. Brent Allen Caputo said, “There’s nothing like sharing your ideas with other artists, and to allow an open window for creating a series such as this.”

The performance series, which takes inspiration from and will have some collaboration with “BONK!” in Racine, is the spirit of the Expose Kenosha website in a live format, shining a spotlight on creative people from our own city and beyond. The founders hold a common belief that art and creativity in all of its forms should be easily accessible to everyone. They hope that the series will serve to celebrate the power of creativity and a shared love of the arts. Catherine Patin adds that she hopes that the series “…will enable the audience to become acquainted with the exceptionally talented artists in the area, while forming a network in which the artistic community can collaborate.”

Featured artists for the first “Be Exposed!” show will include visual artist Rebecca Venn, poet Nick Demske, and musician Brent Mitchell. At the end of the evening, there will be a Q&A session for the audience to interact with the performers.

Sponsored by ExposeKenosha.com, Carolyn’s Coffee Connection and the Kenosha Writers’ Guild, the series will be held every third Friday of the month, and feature not only local artists, but national talent as well. Shows begin at 7 p.m. at Carolyn’s Coffee Connection and are free and open to the public.
